Practice 3 Report - Bavarian motor works

Nick Heidfeld set the fastest time of the morning session in Shanghai on Saturday morning beating Lewis Hamilton by a small margin. Nick's BMW Sauber team-mate Robert Kubica was third fastest with Hamilton's team-mate Heikki Kovalainen fourth. Of the top men only Hamilton had any problems with a run up an escape road at one point.

Jarno Trulli was next up in his Toyota ahead of Nico Rosberg, Sebastien Bourdais, David Coulthard and Kazuki Nakajima.

The Renaults were nowhere with Nelson Piquet 10th and Fernando Alonso 16th while the Hondas looked rather better with Rubens Barrichello in 11th place and Jenson Button 15th.

The two Ferraris were 12th and 13th but no doubt were not trying very hard to set times.

Sebastian Vettel was 14th.

Timo Glock was struggling in 17th, while Mark Webber had an engine go and was 18th.

At the back, as ever, were the two Force Indias of Adrian Sutil and Giancarlo Fisichella.
